Want a Slow-Paced, Outdoor Lifestyle? Get Real Estate in Evergreen, Colorado!

Imagine taking a relaxing hike on a crisp morning through rolling hills of pine, spruce, and fir trees. And once you get home to brew a hot cup of joe, you peek out of your kitchen window to see a family of deer grazing on your front lawn.

This is the essence of Evergreen — the perfect blend of urban and mountain life. If you’re craving a slow-paced lifestyle steeped in the great outdoors, then Evergreen is for you.

What sets it apart is its solitude and location.

Real Estate in Evergreen, Colorado

Evergreen is an exclusive real estate market. Think cozy homes nestled in the mountains, not sprawling suburban communities.

As such, it’s not considered an “affordable” place to live. However, the farther East you search, moving toward Denver, the lower the price ranges for homes will be. (Check out my vlogs on Golden, and Arvada to find beautiful homes in a lower price range.)

Home Price Range

The price range of single-family homes in Evergreen varies greatly. They can sell for around $500,000 for fixer-uppers with 2-3 bedrooms to over $5,000,000 for luxury homes with 5-7 bedrooms and all the bells, whistles, views, and acreage your heart desires.

Suffice it to say, you’ll surely find your dream home with such a wide range to choose from.

The average price in Evergreen as of 2022 is around $990,000 for 3-4 bedroom homes.

Pro Tip: The market is a revolving door — homes are constantly being added and removed from the market. So always check with a realtor for the most up-to-date information.

Commute to Denver

Evergreen isn’t a Denver suburb, but its proximity to Denver allows residents to maintain their urban careers.

It’s only an hour's commute each way to Denver with your personal vehicle in traffic. During inclement weather, it’s always a good idea to factor in longer drive times.

Winter Commutes

If you’ve got a four-wheel-drive vehicle, you’ll be good to go. Rarely is there a large snow accumulation, and the road crews are diligent about clearing the roads. Usually, snowmelt on the roads evaporates within a day or two because it’s so sunny here!

Pro Tip: Stay on top of shoveling your driveway! The snowpack and steepness of driveways in Evergreen make it the trickiest and most time-consuming part of preparing for a commute.

Community

Evergreen, Colorado feels like a quaint mountain town (think Keystone, CO) with its own unique, vibrant community.

It’s a great fit for retirees to settle in a gorgeous slower-paced, close-knit community. With a range of recreational activities – from relaxing in the great outdoors to connecting with creatives in the local art galleries on Main Street – there is always something to do.

Evergreen is also a wonderful fit for active families. There’ll never be a dull moment creating new memories. And according to niche.com and greatschools.org, the schools in Evergreen are highly rated.

Wondering What to Do in Evergreen, Colorado?

The town has everything you need— grocery shopping, restaurants, parks, etc. So there’s no  need to trek into Denver or the surrounding communities if you don’t want to.

Here are a few exciting things you can do in and around Evergreen.

Outdoor Recreation

Exploring the great outdoors won’t get old, regardless of the weather. With 29 parks and over 54,000 acres of open space, there will be a park a stone’s throw away regardless of where you live.

These are a few highlights:

  • Evergreen Lake: Boating, Paddleboarding, Fishing, Bird-watching, Ice Skating, and Ice Hockey

  • St. Mary’s Glacier Hike: A 1.5-mile round-trip hike 30-minutes West of Evergreen. It’s great for beginners. Don’t forget cash (around $5) for the designated parking.

Indoor Recreation

Whether it’s a snowy day, a rainy day, or you want something different, you can find fun excursions indoors.

  • Evergreen Nature Center (at Evergreen Lake) — discover more about the wilderness around Evergreen through the variety of pelts, footprint molds, and other educational materials designed for all ages.

  • Hiwan Heritage Park & Museum — This former summer camp was hand-built by local craftsmen from local materials in 1893. Take a tour through the 25-room building that includes a chapel and two octagonal towers!

  • TallGrass Aveda Spa and Salon — Immerse yourself in a luxurious getaway with one of TallGrass’s Escape packages. Ranging from 2-5 hours, each one is designed to pamper the guest with what they need most. Whether it’s to ease the stress of an active week, soothe an achy back during pregnancy, or relax with a facial and massage designed for men.

Annual Festivals and Events

Residents can enjoy a diverse array of activities and events throughout the year. They’re a great way to get to know your neighbors, discover new interests, and meet your kid’s friends from school.

Here are a few must-sees:

  • Evergreen Lake Summer Concert Series — gather your friends and family to enjoy live music from multiple local and national artists in various genres.

  • Oktoberfest — Evergreen’s German club hosts an exciting, authentic evening of music, dancing, beer, and food.

  • Holiday Walk — an annual holiday tree lighting with Mr. and Mrs. Clause that includes free carriage rides, holiday shopping, live ice sculpting, fire pits with s’mores, carolers, and more!

Evergreen, Co Restaurants

Despite its secluded location, you’ll never miss the opportunity to fill up on delicious food. There are so many options to choose from, and you can’t go wrong.

But here are my top 3 restaurants:

  • Wildflower Cafe serves a down-to-earth menu of mouth-watering American breakfast and lunch classics. Think cozy mom & pop shop quality food with a pro-chef curated look on each plate. And did I mention the cocktails and seasonal beers?

  • The Switchback Smokehouse will be your go-to for BBQ and smoked meats. They smoke a range of choices in-house daily, so you know it’s fresh. We’re talking everything from duck to salmon; they’ve got you covered! And when you’re ready for a sweet to go with that salty, pick up a cup of their ice cream, which is also made in-house.

  • Bistro Del Lago is a family-run restaurant with a high-class feel. The high-end presentation is a feast for the eyes. And I can’t recommend the pasta dishes enough. The sauce is an explosion of flavor while the handmade noodles melt in your mouth.

Is Evergreen, Colorado Right For You?

Why?

Because a savvy realtor knows how to shave off those dollars with out-of-the-box thinking rather than compromise. And I can help you craft offers that’ll further save you money.
