Clear Creek County follows I-70 west from the foothills toward the Continental Divide, and it’s one of Colorado’s original counties from 1861. It covers Idaho Springs, Georgetown (the county seat), Silver Plume and Empire, plus smaller mountain communities like Dumont, Downieville, Lawson and St. Mary’s. About 9,400 people live here.
This is old mining country with an incredible backyard. Mount Blue Sky, Guanella Pass, Loveland Ski Area, St. Mary’s Glacier and miles of trail are all in the county, and most towns are 30 to 60 minutes from Denver depending on where you land and what I-70 is doing that day.
Housing ranges from historic homes in town to cabins, acreage and high-alpine properties. Wells, septic, snow load, steep driveways and wildfire mitigation come up on almost every showing, and I’ll make sure you understand all of it before you commit. Let’s find the part of Clear Creek County that fits you.
