Dumont

Dumont is a small, unincorporated community along Clear Creek between Idaho Springs and Empire, at just under 8,000 feet. It got its name, and its post office in 1880, from John M. Dumont, a local mine operator. Today it runs together with neighboring Downieville and Lawson along the I-70 corridor.

What people love about Dumont is the location. You’re minutes from Idaho Springs for groceries, hot springs and restaurants, close to Georgetown and Empire, and a straight shot down I-70 to Denver. Homes range from older cabins near the creek to hillside places with bigger views.
